rhino 700 performance help

Postby diebog » Mon Jun 14, 2010 7:56 pm

hello everyone........i bought a 700 sport edition last year and have been adding some performance parts but still need more. so what are my options?

here is what i have: rhino 700 with Black Rhino Performance ECU & EFI Controller (the store I bought it from told me to put the rotary switch to position 6). k& n filter, pro circuit t-4 dual exhaust, dunner clutch weights, moded sheave, doonz tires all around aired down to 6 psi. so my question is besides motor work, what are my options if any? do i have any room for improvement on the ecu efi controller? i ride at sea level and am not looking for more top speed (top speed on flat ground is 50 mph) just hill climbing ability's. I have problems on stuff a stock razor will go up. don"t get me wrong, my setup is way way better over stock....i am just looking for a little more umph to get up those taller dunes.

I have herd you can put a custom tune, but i have know idea where to begin on that. I know as much as you plug it in to computer and adjust fuel, air and timing, but dont have any knowledge on what to do. Is there anyone that has a sweet spot for the settings they could let me in on that would work with my mods?

Can't help with the 700 (I'm a 660 guy) but 6 PSI seems like too much air pressure. I run 3-4 PSI in the dunes, and have run as low as 2 PSI with no problems. Try this next time you dune- find a big hill, climb as high as you can at 6 PSI, back down, lower your tire pressure a pound, and try again. I bet you'll go higher. And I bet you will find the best performance in the 3 1/2-4 PSI range. Once you find your ideal, check your pressures several times during the day, the tires heat up and the pressure will go up accordingly.

And of course, any weight you can shed will help also.

I've never run Doonz, but I run Skat Trak Extremes & my AT489s at 3-4 psi (and less) and have never had one come off the bead. I once ran my 489s at 2psi up comp hill at Buttercup about a dozen times, then all the way to the Mexican Blowhole & back to camp.... no problems! Hell, I once got my golf cart down in a bowl I couldn't get out of, so I took the valve stems OUT and drove back to camp.
I've never popped a bead on anything.

is there any one out there that has any info for maping or adjusting the settings on this Black Rhino Performance ECU & EFI Controller? i have done allot of searching on the net and can not find any info that will help me. It just seems with all this room for adjusting that i should be able to dial it in where I am getting the maximum amount of HP out of that 700. Hell that is why i bought it in the first place, i just didn't realize how many variables there were. I was thinking it would be like my chip for my 7.3 powerstroke. you got 3 settings tow, non tow, and performance. but i guess they are two completely different systems. so if there is any one out there that could give me any info on this subject, I would really appreciate it!

I'd call Black Rhino. Not sure how often they check the forum these days, (activity is so low here) but I'm sure they can help out. Wish I could help, but like I said, I have a 660, with an old Black Rhino CDI, and I think it is serial number 016, if I remember right. Old, old, old......

the boys at Hunterworks have helped out before and with their HOW TO videos, it makes doing the adjustments easy, but still may need a dyno to get your set up right.

You can fit a stage one raptor cam this will help a lot about 7 to 10 HP. I have a 09 700 with the cam ,MSD,muzzy dual pipes a gold spring and 16 gram overdrive greasesless weight this works very good for power Bill

so you can install a cam without doing any other major engine mods like big bore kit and head work? i always thought and was told by others that adding a cam to a stock motor doesn't do that much. if you are opening up valves up more then you have to be able to flow more through those ports. so then you would need to to some porting to the heads. along with a bigger piston. but i may be wrong............i know there is a small increase by opening up the valves more, but is it really worth it on the 700? if so what is the best way to go as far as a cam goes?

I think it is worth it if you have a cam and a MSD and dual exhaust you will go from stock 23HP to about 38 HP thats worth it the cam is only about $189.00 Bill :D
