Auxillary Battery Question

Postby duramaximus » Sun May 10, 2009 8:46 am

I just installed the kit minus the battery. I mounted everything via the directions included. I noticed an additional item that I do not have in the kit. It is installed right by the isolator. It looks like a relay of some type. What is it and what is its for?

Thanks,

Nevermind, I just figured it out. Its the Weather Resistant Fuse Block w/ Relay. Good thing I puchased that also. Now I just need to get the battery and I will be set :)

I do not want to pay shipping so I am going to shop for the battery locally. What is the stock part number for the High Performance ODYSSEY Battery?

Thanks,

The Odyssey battery that you are probably thinking of is the PC925. It is small enough to put into the stock battery box if turned onto it's side.

If you mean charging an auxillary battery while running the machine; the best way, in my opinion, is to use a 'Voltage Sensing Relay' (commonly called a battery separator). This is a relay between the two batteries that connects the auxillary battery to the primary battery. but only when the voltage on the primary is over about 13.2 volts or so. This insures that the primary battery receives it's charge before any is given to the auxillary battery. BRP has one in their website catalog: http://www.blackrhinoperformance.com/Products/Smart-Battery-SeparatorInterconnect__ELE200043.aspx
